Commute St. Louis
is a forum for sharing ideas and inspiration as we work to make St. Louis a city where commuter bicycling and other forms of “alternative transportation” are welcomed, respected, and embraced. We are individuals who are passionate about living in a metropolitan area that is among the best in the nation for those who want to bicycle, walk, or take public transit as part of their everyday routine. Is the old Chain of Rocks bridge open for communting this summer? This is a possible alternative route for me, and I will need to cross the bridge each morning at 8:am April through September. ?? thanks….
The folks to ask are at Trailnet (http://www.trailnet.org). Looks like their new website will be unveiled soon, and it should have up-to-date info about the Chain of Rocks bridge.
My car died in late June 2011. Sence then I have been commuting by bike with the aid of Metra. As Fall approaches I’m getting worried about safety gear for night time riding. I have a light on my helmet and a light for the handle bar. Any idea where I can purchase Reflective Vest and Ankle Straps? Tried the local walmart but no luck there.
A great place to purchase that kind of gear is at REI in brentwood or bigshark on delmar.
