Great Rivers Greenway is hosting an open house on Thursday, Sept. 29, to showcase conceptual plans for the Carondelet Connector, a proposed trail that will connect Carondelet Park to the River des Peres Greenway along Germania St. Residents are invited to attend the open house anytime between 5 and 7:30 p.m. to provide input on the project and speak with representatives from Great Rivers Greenway and the trail engineers from TranSystems. The open house will take place at the YMCA Carondelet Park Rec Complex located at 930 Holly Hills Drive, St. Louis, MO 63111.
The .75-mile trail will connect Carondelet Park with the 5.5-mile River des Peres Greenway, providing residents with a direct route to parks, shopping, restaurants, the on-street Bike St. Louis system at Holly Hills Blvd. and the Shrewsbury MetroLink station. The new connector will extend from where the River des Peres Greenway currently ends at Germania St. north to Carondelet Park and will include an underpass at Loughborough Ave. Once complete, the River des Peres Greenway will serve as a 12-mile recreation and transportation corridor that will eventually stretch from Forest Park to the Mississippi River linking seven parks, three business districts and six neighborhoods. To learn more about the Carondelet Connector, River des Peres Greenway or the upcoming open house, visit www.grgstl.org or call 314-436-7009, ext. 107.
